Monastery of Timios Prodromos, Mountain Palouki

Beautiful historic monastery with a perfect view, built in the green slope, warm welcome from the monk of the monastery and very impressive artifacts he makes himself in the monastery's workshop. The monastery is located on the mountain Palouki above Skopelos town. I know it can be reached by walking along the seafront which from the port (leaving it) goes to the left. At the bottom you go up its about 5 klm. If you go by foot take the T1 walking trail is marked at the end of the harbour promenade, or you can follow the road which is paved up to the final kilometre thrn becomes dirt.

The road switchbacks through cool thick forest, some parts of it are shaded, especially in the early morning. You must have a car or other motor vehicle. On site we were welcomed by a very kind caretaker who also opened the church for us to visit and light a candle. We also took a tour of the small monastery. He told us that a young monk also lives there. In the past they lived much more. Beautiful view of the sea. Free outdoor parking. It sells some handmade products.
