Nikos Rodios, born in Athens in 1952, grew up surrounded by ceramics. From the age of six, he worked alongside his father Giorgos and his uncle Vasilis, learning the potter’s wheel and creating his first clay pieces in the family workshop on Skopelos. In 1975, he settled permanently on the island and fully dedicated himself to pottery, continuing the family’s long artistic tradition.

He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Greece, and his works are now part of museum and private collections. Despite the loss of key family collaborators, he managed to sustain and develop the production of the family’s signature black pottery.

Today, the tradition is carried forward by the next generation. Born in 1989 and raised in Skopelos, she grew up in her father’s workshop, where clay became her favorite form of expression from an early age. She later attended courses in Sculpture and Ceramics at the Athens School of Fine Arts and returned to the island to pursue her own artistic path.

Her work blends the family’s traditional black pottery techniques with contemporary experimentation in materials and color. Nature is her main source of inspiration, reflected in creations such as flowers, butterflies, wreaths, wall decorations, and ceramic jewelry.

The historic workshop remains active to this day, preserving traditional methods such as the foot-powered wheel and wood-fired kiln, keeping a living connection between past and present. Please read there full story in their site:  https://rodiospottery.com/about-us/
